Helix Customer Service is Top Notch. Full Stop

Helix Customer Service is Top Notch.

For all the crappy customer service out there, Helix excellent customer really stands out.

This review is purely about the customer service aspects of Helix. You can read my original review here.

https://www.reddit.com/r/IPTVReviews/comments/b4nqbl/helix_and_smoothstreams_for_the_last_year_more/

As you can read from my original post, I subscribe to Helix. Ignoring the stream quality, channels, which you can read in my review, I want to focus on Helix customer service.

So as many of you know Helix is a provider and not a reseller. The general rule of thought is that resellers provide better customer support than providers since they can focus on a smaller subset of customers. Some how Helix manage to defied the odds (which I imagine has a lot of customers now) is very response to customers. Quote impressed

Couple of points

Payment Taking - This can be a challenge for all providers there is not a lot of Paymnet processors for IPTV will take payments. This is where resellers have the advantage since they can fly under the radar. Helix has found ways to work around this and has multiple ways of taking payments. Not going to lie, for PeeeeeeePal, you do have to go to another site.. but it works. They also added another payment processor besides that crappy EPayouts recently. I like their ongoing effort.

Forums/Chat/Facebook - NONEXISTENT! At first, I was like WTF. How am I going to get help? Then I started thinking.. when has those items really helped me? None really.. most of the time it is with customers dueling with each other or staff fighting customers. I don't need that in my life. Helix offers a twitter and tickets.. and when you thinking about it.. that is really all I need. I do not want to hear about some jackass missing their favorite footie (don't care).

Give me an annoucement of issues on twitter and if there is no annoucment I will open a ticket.

Response Time to Support Request - This part is exceptional. They have staff 24/7 I have gotten responses in all times during the day and night. Usually within 1 hour. I belive they have 7-10 people just manning tickets between their sites. I rememeber having an issue during Christmas day and I got a response within a hour... insane.

Customer abuse - NONE. I seen some many provider get call out about customer abuse here. Most are run by jerks. Disagreements between customers and providers get heated and the provider resorts to name calling and we event have idiot provider DOX their customers. I don't care if they have the best streams out there.. If I get disrespected or privacy threatened., they will NEVER get a penny from me.

As for HELIX, they are in a different class. I have seen NO ONE complain about customer service from Helix. They seem to be run by a set of professionals who respect their customers. Clearly a service that is set on providing good customer service that sets them apart.

Honestly I am impressed.. so much to a point where I might be looking to resell their product. Havent' decide but even if i do not resell, it is a bit of a discount for me long term.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

1 year in... and I am addicted...

I can't seem to get enough of trying new IPTV services... I started slow... then the last couple of months... I keep trying new ones...

I started with a firestick... graduated to an Nvidia Shield. 16gb version.. added a 2TB hard drive... I run an ethernet cable (No wifi)... I test daily between 250-300 mbps...

These are currently what I am using.. From what works best for me... to what barely gets used...

  1. Ology - 1 connecton.. Very little buffering, decent quality (Most of the sports I watch are in 60fps) hit and miss on the other channels.. At different times of the day they are 30 to 60 fps, good channel selection, guide is a little rough though..

  2. Beast- 3 connections.. Quality for sports is very good (in my opinion and with my setup of course) a little bit more buffering then Ology.. but it seems to buffer less using Progtv... Guide is HORRIBLE!! MLB , NBA and PPV you have to scroll through all the sections channels to find your game.. almost gave up on it..

  3. NITRO - 2 connections.. Lots of channels, hit and miss on quality... guide is just below ok... but could be better... Little buffering... split screen is great when watching 2 sporting events... but during split screen it tends to buffer.. This may have been higher on the list if my favorite channel to watch wasnt in SD... I have requested for them to see if they could get this channel in HD... They said they would... never happend... So I rarely use Nitro now.

  4. Gears Reloaded - 1 connection.. To me... its the best and worst... Decent variety of channels, guide is the best....stability is the best.. What kills me is the quality of picture.. I have a 65" TV and I admit I sit way too close (small living room). But compared to other services.. it just is too pixelated... its made for a 40" TV. (Which I have in the bedroom and looks decent).. Even with all the positives... I only tend to watch it when the others buffer... and it annoys me the whole time.. I am guessing they have better stability because they are not pushing all channels to 60fps.. or it's a bitrate thing?? If the quality of picture was better.... it would be my #1

  5. Vaders- 5 connections.. It is the buffer zone.. I like the layout.. Not a huge list of channels.. but most of the channels I watch are there. I like matchcenter.. easy to find games.. quality is so so.. I find 1 game to be good the next to be average.. guide is so so.. but the buffering just kills it for me...

  6. Dark Media - 5 connections.. Hmmmm... layout looks good. Functionality isn't the best. No video playing while scrolling through channels.. video is good quality but it buffers too often... and channels come and go... way too much... half of my favorites are gone most days.. This is one that seems like it has a whole lot of potential... but all the effort is put into the wrong things..

Next month I'm sure I will try even more.. my goal.. Getting as close to cable as possible.. within reason. I get what iptv is... I am just enjoying the search..

Proton IPTV Review

Currently trying Proton IPTV for the next 3 days. Trial cost me $2.50 US. Using an NVidia Shield with a clean cache file and restart, directly connected to the net with Cat6, 60Mbps service. CP24 news and both Investigation Discovery channels are buffering constantly. I'm not impressed. I'll update in the next few days. I've tried with PIA VPN on and off. Same results so far. One more thing. I'm trying their "Electron" service.

Epic Streams IPTV Review (3.5 stars)

EPIC STREAMS IPTV

Previous IPTV Providers

| Vaders | Insight | MillenniumTV | IPGuys | TubeTV | ExcursionTV | LiteIPTV |

I've had Epic Streams for about 9 months and it's been good. Not great, good. Plenty of channels from many regions around the world. EPG Guide, Catch Up, and Movie & TV Shows On Demand. Organized their channels in groups very easy to navigate. Customer support is very fast. And the price is extremely reasonable. I mainly watch sports packages and for that, Epic Streams is flawless. As with most of their US/CAN channels, the games are crystal clear HD and no buffer. Very solid service.

So why the score?

1. CHANNEL ISSUE NEVER FIXED.

MTV, Paramount, Showtime Xtra and HBO East all have extremely bad audio lag. With multiple tickets opened, a resolution has never been met. Trying to watch Ridiculousness or Bar Rescue with the lag is a NO BUENO.

2. TV GUIDE ISSUE

As the above issue, there are just a couple of channels that the EPG is extremely off. I'm not talking 30 minutes, more like 10+ hours off.

3. PPV EVENTS

Any PPV Events like UFC fights, Boxing, Wrestling, etc are a hit or miss. So inviting 50 people over for a BBQ viewing party is a hard NO BUENO.

4. EAST COAST (AND BEYOND) CHANNELS

I live in California, so having a ton (20+) of East Coast or UK channels set as "US" channels is highly inconvenient. By the time the kids and I get home from school and work there is nothing worth watching on because it's being streamed from an East Coast or UK source but although grouped in the US category. I.E. We'll get home and Nickelodeon is now Nick at Nights showing King of Queens and The Office. Cartoon Network is now Adult Swim. And other channels are showing late night programming or infomercials. During the day, these channels are showing marathons of one show because the source is 2:00-3:00 AM.

OVERALL: GOOD Stable Service. Recommend as great sports service and/or 2nd/Backup IPTV service

Vaders Review (1 Star)

Alriiiighht, so I was curious to see what all the fuss about Vaders was (so many people talking poorly about them but yet they are still so popular) so i decided to get a sub and BOY was that a mistake! I should have listened to the fuss, lol, because I literally could not get even 2 minutes of buffer-free streaming. I then switched over to my main provider on the same channel and no buffering at all so no it wasn't my internet connection. I then figured I would try them out agian about a week later as I had a full month sub thinking maybe they were just having a bad time the last time I tried them and lol, lo and behold, buffer buffer buffer... How does anyone stick with them? For god sakes stay away from them.

IPTV.SHOP absolute garbage. Avoid!!

Stay away. Works once in a blue moon, never know when it will be working or will be continuously spinning and go "sorry cannot play the stream". Any stream!

All the emails have been answered with "it's working, it's your equipment". Funnily enough my backup connection works flawlessly all the time.

Tested in all possible combos and equipment (android box, phone, app, m3u). Can work for few hours then will simply stop .

In short, don't waste your $ like I did.

IPTV Benchmarks/Standards vs. Praising/Bashing

First off - VERY sorry that this is a long post, but you'll see why if you read it (and a HUGE "Thank You!!" if you do)

I'm not new to IT (been in the profession for quite a few yrs), but am fairly new to IPTV, so I very humbly admit that I don't know every provider out there, but the one thing I always find with any praise/bash posts - it isn't that it isn't warranted at times, it's that you have to wade thru them to get the info you're sometimes really ONLY after, so...

I fig'd it might be useful (IMHO) to try a post not for praising/bashing IPTV providers, but instead to get some benchmarks/standards (sort of like the IEEE/ANSI in the computer world) from users, so not the who likes or hates who, but just the pure technical experience, so...

Just to get things going, as there's legal and 'illegal' IPTV, and everyone may want to include both, for this post I'll differentiate 'illegal' as 'i' IPTV (so iIPTV) from here on.

With that said, IMHO here's the main benchmark/standards I've constantly seen repeated over and over in posts...

  1. You can use many different setups, and go thru many different providers/resellers - it's YOUR preference
  2. iIPTV is NOT 100% stable no matter who/what you use
    1. To be honest (IMHO) if you're averaging 95% or better - you're doing well
  3. iIPTV streams ARE dependent on your setup, and the repeated benchmarks/standards seem to be...
    1. A proper modem w separate router setup (so NOT a single modem+router combo unit)
    2. At least 50mbps package from whatever ISP you're with
    3. Using a LAN cable (if possible of course)
  4. iIPTV posts constantly advise users to review/give these points before you post
    1. List your setup!!
    2. Confirm that you ARE getting the speeds you're paying for - especially during 'peak' hours
      1. i.e. .if you live in an area with only one ISP that everyone else uses, then you ARE going to have peak time brownout issues
    3. If you live somewhere where you can be penalized for using IPTV, then you should use a VPN (therefore...)
    4. A VPN does effect streaming speeds
    5. TRY LOTS OF PROVIDERS!!!

I'm sure there's TONS more points, but what I'm attempting (trying) with this post is..

No one user experience is the same, even IF you have a perfect home setup, have perfect speeds ALL the time, have a plethora of ISP's to choose from, only using LAN, or.. or.. or.., so having (at least some) benchmarks/standards defined might be viable (???)

As an example, if a 'out of 10' scale was used (possibly including .5's), and with some basic FAIR rules, like...

  1. NO iIPTV (and/or IPTV if we want to include them) provider gets 10/10
    1. IPTV providers would only be at/go to a 9 (i.e. even NetFlix has had outages)
    2. iIPTV providers would ONLY be at/go to an 8 (maybe 8.5 at most, IF it's agreed upon)
  2. Give location info, BUT (for privacy)...
    1. ONLY give general location/direction (S/W/SE/etc.) and country code (US/CAN/UK/etc.) info
    2. Maybe your city - IF everyone agrees
  3. DO NOT post ANY reseller names, only specify if you use one
    1. Users should research them for themselves or go to the u/iptvresellers
  4. NO shill posts

From here, users then could request help/give a non-bashing report with some setup and provider info rules, like...

  1. List your setup (ISP, hardware, etc.)
    1. If you have a provider that allows more than one device, split them up, including if different locations (i.e your house, parents place, work, etc.)
  2. How long you've been with/used a certain provider (again, split them up if more than one), AWA a Current time-frame for troubleshooting (so maybe...)
    1. FT for 'Full Term' (the time you've been with them)
    2. CT for 'Current Term' (the last 7days/1wk period)

Using myself as an example, here's MHO of my provider (I only have 1 provider, and offers 3 devices, so I setup my GF's place)...

Setup1

- Location: SW-CAN

- ISP Pkg: U75/D7.5

- Setup: ISP modem w separate Wi-Fi router (might want to include models??)

- HW: Fire TV Stick (non-4K)

- App: Provider apk

- VPN: No

Provider1

- Host: Beast

- FT: 3mnths

- Reseller: No (just signed up with one for April)

FT Ratings

- Up Avg: 7.5

- Outage Avg: 2.5

CT Ratings:

- CT Up Avg: 7

- CT Outage Avg: 3.5

- CT Speed Test: U81.5/D8

...then for some clarity - IF everyone agreed/wanted, you could expand further with the CT Ratings reasons, like...

CT Issue(s): Heavy buffering during UFC fight / Low-mid buffering issues last 2 evenings

- Issue time(s): 5-6pm / 6-7pm PST

- Issue duration(s): First 30-45mins / Every 3-5mins

- Issue steps done: Rebooted modem, router, and cleared caches / Restarted app, cleared cache

- Results: No change, just waited it out / (same)

Provider2: N/A (so for me, no point in listing additional fields)

Setup2: (is gf's place, but w XBox One+Kodi, otherwise all the same, so for this example, won't list it)

..., so now my 'report' is done

Anyway, I'm sure there's tons of other ways to do this, but as I said, I just thought a true set of benchmarks/standards might be useful.

This is just a very IPTV newbs 2 cents idea, so cheers and thanks for listening/reading

EDIT: Cleaned it up a bit ;-)

Beast TV

I just thought I'd make this post as a heads up to anybody thinking of taking a Beast IPTV sub who is looking for UK catch up.

I signed up today via BeastIPTV.com (thankfully only a month) and was very disappointed to find that there was 1 UK catch up channel (BBC1) and 0 UK sports catch up. I thought maybe it was just a bit of downtime so contacted their support group.

After a few msgs and the Admins just chatting amongst themselves for a couple of hours, I was told that is how it is.

Also the EPG for UK was a mess.

I should have asked for a trial but seeing as they seem to be affiliated with Vaders I thought the content would be similar.

So just a heads up

Helix and Smoothstreams for the last year.. More than what cable/satellite can give me.

Throwaway account for obvious reasons. I am not sure why anyone would post here with their regular account?

Quick background on my IPTV path taken.

I been doing this for 3 years for now and have tested/used many services out there. I was here during ACE, Flawless, Fab and Epicstream, Smooth Streams, SetTV and NTV.mx Vcarib when they were the new kids and heavily discussed here ona regular basis. I had accounts with these providers. They all peaked and petered out. Some got in major issues with lawsuits and stuff. Most no longer in service. Epicstream seems to be winding down, removing channels and subcumbing to EPL threats. Vcarib was just a joke of a service. Smooth Streams still going strong

Helix started here and advertised for good prices and had the US/CA package that fit me well. I had SmoothStreams account but need more variety than what SoothStream can provide.

I signed up for a free trial (when they still had it) and they immediately went offline due to a DDOS attack. LOL! Quite the joke at the time. I forget th name but they use to have reddit and facebok presense but I understand why they stop responding to people here.

I did subcribe to a month at Helix and had some initial issues but the US/CA channels. When Helix worked that first month, it was amazing. When it ran into issues, I used SmoothStreams. Then something happened and Helix figured something out.. they got really stable and reliable... at the same time they closed their reddit/facebook account. (could have been due to that) They went all tickets support and to be honestly they have provided the best support I had at IPTV. Never was mean or rude even though I gotten mad at them many times. I did let my subscription expire for one and tried a competing service but the quality and supoort wsa not there. I ended up going back to Helix after a two month break.

Helix was just simple and easy. Service comes on and quality is good. Support takes care of me. I use Smooth Streams when Helix has issues. I use Helix when I want more than 80 channels.

Are there better and cheaper services? Maybe I am just getting old... I almost don't care anymore. I do not need the fancy, the biggest, the most. I just need something that just works kinda like cable. I have come to expect that with Helix.

Now they given me headaches here is some to name a few.

  1. Added XXX to my channels when I didn't request it (thanks I guess) kids thought it was great.

  2. Removed Paypal and made me use ePayouts

Luckily I am back on Paypal with them after I sent them a ticket

  3. Kodi/APK need reinstaling.

  4. An occasional buffer here and there.

It is been more than a year since I been using Helix with Smoothstream as a back up. I paid 1/10 of what I would have paid for cable. I am extremely please with both of them.

TL/DR: I been around the IPTV block. Helix and SmoothStreams works best for me. Helix should be good enough for most add in SmoothStreams if you need sports fix and backup.
