Best Cheap Backup I've Tried- RIOT STREAMS

by briabbmitch

Review: Riot Streams
Location: Facebook group: Riot Streams Support
Cost $5 per month for 2 connections   $35.00 for a year 2 connections  (5 connections also available)
Payment methods: Zelle and  Paypal
My setup for testing:  I tested this on my dual band wifi router running on my 5ghz connection. 115 mbps. latency/ping 41ms. I used both a 2nd gen firestick and an Android phone running Android 8.00
Experience: I have tested approximately 70 or more services and watched detailed reviews on countless others
Both devices I used the IPTV Smarters app version 2.0.3, OTT, XC and app they call "Pro".
Now the service:  Riot has most every channel you would be looking for. It's not going to be my primary provider but at the cost it makes a phenomenal backup. They do not have trials, however at $5 for a month or $35 for a year it's very much worth the shot.  If you aren't looking for all the frillz and extras, I highly recommend this service. Sure you'll pay more for catchup and VOD but do you really need that in a backup?
Sports:  This has all of the sports packages you are looking for however they are not labeled with an EPG or teams playing name. To find the game you are looking for you might have to click thru a few channels to find it. However, the channels are there and do work during the live events.
EPG-  The EPG appears to be lacking but there are a few channels. These seem to come and go in quality with many services lately, not just this one.
VOD/Series- Previously this service had VOD. It went away like many in the past couple weeks given the situation with another GIANT service.  This may or may not come back in the future.
Buffer-  WHILE EVERY SYSTEM IS DIFFERENT, I experienced the occasional  buffer during my testing at peak viewing times. This did line out pretty quickly and was not observed on all channels at that same time. (tested from two devices at once). Riot seems to take an extra second or so to switch between channels (except on Pro app which was markedly better than others for this). This can happen on any service during peak times but again I am billing this as a backup service not the primary.
Summary- Riot is the little engine that could honestly. It's a no frillz backup service that does just that. It provides you all of the channels you are going to need as a backup to any other service you might already have. I HIGHLY recommend a backup to any service, no matter HOW great the other service is. Simply having a secondary service with potentially different feed sources makes all of the difference in a true outage situation. Do you really want to be stuck missing the big game because your provider went down? Plan B is something everyone should have. For me Riot is just that. If a person really was not picky, they might even view riot as their primary solution to their TV viewing needs.
Other services by this seller-
Da Fire Streamz Gold- Da Fire Streamz Gold is a robust service offering over 8,600 channels. It's nicely broken out into categories for easy access. This services offers the standard PPV and sports packages you'd come to expect from all of your main players.   The thing that sets this service apart for me is that it switches between channels very quickly. This is a primary service that is exceptional. Gold offers 72 hour catchup on over 200 channels! Pricing runs $9 per month for 2 connections  $1 for 24 hour trials  Package and multi-month deals available. Facebook group: Da Fire Streamz
Be sure to ask for GOLD when looking at this product so it does not get confused with the other product called Da Fire Streamz (the original one).

Link? Great review. Thanks.

Sounds not reliable enough to be a backup even at $5 a month. Few extra dollars will get you a backup that’s almost worthy of being a primary. Excellent write up, just my two cents on the value.

Just tried DFS Gold to watch NBA finals game two and would have to say it the video quality was really good and no buffer. The changing channels was fairly quick.

This is only a 2 hour review, but impressed so far. They have 4 or 5 different branded players you can try. They have a $7 for this month with 2C special so I did that. Using FB is kinda quirky and slow to sign up.
