Review of Crystal and Beast (almost one month in)

by BigRizzle

Ok, so with anything, take this as you will...

I signed up just about a month ago for Crystal and Beast (if you wish to know with whom, you can message me). I sampled a few different ones, Crystal and Beast obviously, Jarvis, Guerrilla, and did a TON of reading as a family member has IPTV from a local provider using a mag box (service unknown as seller would not disclose). I have 3 feeds of Beast and 2 of Crystal, have a 600mbps down/50mbps up connection, run 2x Minix android boxes and 3x Firestick basics.

Here are my observations thus far: When using Crystal I find the overall quality acceptable, with little to no artifacting (yes I know that’s not really a word, but you get my point). The channel selection is what I need with a good mix of all locations. This is the main service I have in my kids rooms, which allows them to watch pretty well anything at any time. The service has been “up” the entire time, with the occasional channel issue. Most are quickly resolved through an error report, which is addressed ASAP.

When using Beast, the quality is great. From what I understand, the bitrate on Beast is higher, and it appears to produce a much sharper image on my TV’s. The channel line-up is almost identical (technically it is for the standard channels, except some internationals). Similar to Crystal, it has been “up” the entire time so far, with the exception of the odd channel having issues, which are usually fixed quite quickly.

As a rating for them, I would say 8/10 overall for both. My reasoning for this is because I feel that the available content is perfect for my family and I, the function/usability of the two are simple enough for my kids to manage, and the “up” time so far has been great. However, nothing is ever perfect and everything has its flaws (albeit minor), such as missing audio channels from time to time, failing channel loads, and inaccurate EPG info (which can be manually fixed). The biggest deciding factor for me was dealing with the seller. They were more than happy to answer all my questions (trust me, I had a lot), they didn’t make me feel dumb for some of the stuff I asked (and they easily could have), and were very upfront with can/can’t be done.

If I have missed something that you would like to know, please let me know and I’ll answer what I can. I realize this is only about a month in, so I will update as time goes on, but so far I am happy with my service.

Have you tried Helix?

What makes Helix better than Beast and Crystal?

FriendOfReality

So no issues with Beast? I was going to try it out. I'm happy with what I have which is gears, but I but after having vaders for years I'm just curious about what out there

I decided against paying for a month of beast because everywhere I looked starting about a week ago, it seemed like lots of people were having issues.

For you, it's been solid?

Might give it a go after all.
