Been using u-host for the past week using the Global Package which is 12$/month.
After a week - not very impressed by u-host.
Unpopular streams are OK, but popular ones are mostly problematic. I especially bought this package to get access to MMA events, F1 races and HBO. In most of these 3 cases, streams have been normal to poor.
The good thing about this package you get all the channels you will ever need, but at the same time you get too many to rapidly get an idea of what's in there.
And I already know what some will say, of course popular channels will buck, but then how about finding a solution for many of us are looking for an alternative to cable? If a provider can't manage the popular streams, what's the point? Food for thought.
My setup
As for my setup, my platform of choice is a mac mini connected to my TV. To do, you need to use VLC (playlist) and then find the best channel you can for an event. But as there are sooo many channels and the naming convection is really poor, it rapidly becomes cumbersome to find what you want, or one that works well.
Took me 20 minutes to find a stream for UFC 237 last night... This sucks.
Conclusion
Anyway, thought some would be interested, and at this point I simply can't recommend the service. Looking for other options.
I’ve had u-host for a month or so now. UK specific. I mainly use it for the sport, 90% of the time it’s been great. Head and shoulders above my last provider.
My only issue is the audio can be quite a bit out of sync sometimes. But when watching football this isn’t really an issue. Anything else it’s quite annoying.
