Helix iptv Review

by thebouncingsoul67

What with all the conflicting views of Helix iptv on, I thought I would do an honest review from my perspective, after having it for a few weeks. I was a long time FAB user(and before that mania), and after that went belly up it was time to find a new provider, so after trying the trial, thought I would give Helix a try.

Basicaly I just needed a good provider for sports, mainly Prem footy,Rugby League, NFL and the PPV Boxing and a good catch up service.

Ive got the £6 package, which is uk, us and canadian channels.

Firstly it was easy to pay for and easy enough to set up, which is always good!

Good selection of sports channels and have always been able to connect with no problems(so far). Regarding the footy, I have had no problems really, i dont watch every game anyway(just my team), and always been able to find a stable stream. I usually just find a channel its on and watch it via there, rather then through the dedicated section, as i find it better quality on the USA/Canadian channels and less likely to go down in my experience. I understand people have been having problems, but as i said it has honestly been fine for me so far. As I said I dont watch every prem game, but have dipped in to a few others and they have seemed to be fine aswell...I dont need a VPN either.

As for other sports, Rugby League has been superb quality(again tend to watch it on non uk channels) and the NFL was a bit hit and miss. Managed to watch the Dolphins game Sun, but trying the other games out, there did seem to be a LOT of buffering etc, which hopefully will be sorted out? I couldnt get the game in HD, but swapped over to SD link and it worked fine, with no buffering at all. Praps I was just lucky, cos i know a lot of people were complaining about the other games!

Overall quality of the streams has been good, esp the American channels, but perhaps not as good overall as FAB was. Sky channels quality isnt as good, but I hear that is a problem whoever you are with?

With regards to the catch up channels, it is the usual hit and miss im afraid. Has most of the uk sports channels and a few American ones, so its ok, but dosent have the same amount as FAB or Mania did. Quality wise, a couple of times I have used it and it has been fine but other times it has been a buffering, looping mess...so cant rely on it 100%, but realise this is a bonus so......

The EPG is ok and does the job and have had no problems so far. Im not one of those who gets excited about EPG anyway, but as I said it seems to do the job! The Kodi add on on the other hand, has not been so good. Was ok when i first installed it, but then it just vanished!! The actual add on is there but it just comes up blank? Have reinstalled, but dosent solve the problem, so bear this in mind if you really want this.

Regarding support, I have only sent a ticket once and that was reagarding the Kodi add on. Was answered promptly and politely. Only minus point, was i basicaly told to use the APK and that the Kodi add on was unstable....so not much help really!

Reagarding the non sports channels, again have dipped in and out and have seemed to work ok...although i am not on it 24/7.

Overall I would recommend Helix if your looking for a cheap service as has been pretty good for me so far. Would I renew again? Yes.

I've had it for a month now (using their stand alone app on firestick) and it has been great. Been down only once for half a day. One of the few that wish they had more of a vod section, but I love their 24/7 channels. Usually on Pickers or history channel for live t.v. Overall it's been a really nice experience and I have recommended it to people at work.

Awesome service, only issue I have is that almost all of the local channels don't work. Im new to the game but im very impressed with Helix. still learning as I go along. My system is on a NVIDIA Shield utilizing perfect player.

Please if your site is down?

Been using Helix for 2 months. Good IPTV service for good price. All the sports and movie channels you would want. They continue to improve offerings and organization as well. VOD needs work.

You have pretty much written what I had planned to write next week when I will be half way through my first 3 months. That is to say I hope to still write next week as a lot of IPTV suppliers show their true worth when it comes to PPV so next Saturday will be a big test. That said, my main interest is PL football and that has been great. Once in a while I have had to switch channels but so far I have never been unable to watch what I want. I would never suggest anyone change just for the sake of it but if you need a new or additional supplier I can happily recommend Helix.

this will be an honest review... theres no criticism as overall the service is good.. just a few slightly annoying things TO ME, other people might prefer it....

i signed up yesterday after stumbling on them totally by accident..sign up was super fast and set it all up on stbemu to try it.. first impressions are good. no buffering.. a few usa channels stuck in a loop or not working this morning. im going to set it up on iptvextreme pro and cutomise the channels, but one problem i have is this... the catchup for some uk channels is only on the SD versions, not HD.. so i will either need to add both :( or dont have the catchup.. are there any plans in the future to move the catchup to the HD channels?

The channel organisation is a bit too much aswell, vipusa, premium usa, usa ent, these could all really just be under one category because having channels repeated makes any kind of customisation so difficult without writing down what channels i have already added..

Most iptv kodi apps are crap, but this one is pretty good.. So i will probably just end up using that, but again one small thing... there should be an option to "add to add on favourites" as adding the channels to favourites adds it directly to your kodi faves with all the other junk that we add..

Overall though for the price it seems very good..channels change super quick and good quality... the real test will come the weekend with the fight and the football, if it passes that then i will be subbing for longer.

EDIT.... so the epl game with liverpool v southampton dropped sound a few times, apart from that was perfect.. the boxing.. watched for hours, with only one quick dropout for about ten seconds as they switched source. other than that was perfect.

I will be subbing for three months when my month ends.

For £6 a month I have no complaints at all! Great channel list, lots of 24/7 streams (what i use most of the time anyway), enough VOD (though the selection isn't amazing, it's enough). Can't complain at all!

sfaraz1

so Trial version has better bit rate and is flawless once you sign up for monthly package you can see the diff in quality of the picture. Lower bit rate and little bit of buffering, do you think Trial version is set up differently to get subs ?

CrossgamerHD

their support is great fast reply and helpful i have them as my main and looking for 2 others as backup

aybesea

I've been very happy with my Helix sub.

Every provider has up and down. But one thing for sure, for Helix is continues improvement.

They keep updating the APK, Kodi add-ons, playlist, and even new feeds like F1 section!

Can't seem to get any EPL working right now. Is it just me?

Beatle_Matt

Great review.

The issues that i've run into is the odd buffering (which isn't a huge deal if it's only a second here/there once an hour or so), and the EPG on my Mag box is hella slow. It's painful to bring up the guide and change channels - the response time is so slow....but on my firestick it's as fast as can be!

joemackg

My input?

Helix is working 100%.

Now it's my main service

Keep it up!

Emperor-Paul-Saltine

I feel like my VOD hasn’t updated in some time. Anyone else notice that?

iyousif

Just registered and applied for trail. I am using their web URL and it's giving 500 Internal Server Error!!

therealJaspr

Bob does Helix offer ifollow ?

atkinsm70

I'm looking for a good BT Sports and Sky Sports catchup service to watch EPL games, and Champions League games that I might've missed. Would you recommend Helix for this?

I've been using EpicStreams, but have recently moved to smooth streams (via MMA TV). However, neither of these services offer a decent catchup service for the UK sport channels. EpicStreams has some catchup for US Sport, but nothing for UK Sport.

Can anyone suggest an IPTV provider, who would allow me to watch a game I missed the previous day, via a catchup service?

Thanks

My first day is terrible at helix. everythin is buffering. i cant watch soccer like this!

taboo18

url?

neeno77

Does anyone know if helix works with IPTV smarters?

Pabs54

I just got a couple of months subscription for Helix. Certainly the price and the channel line cannot be beaten, until I tried to watch TV that is. No matter what channel I tuned in to, they all buffer, which is not acceptable.I subscribed to IPGuys for a while, and never had this problem. The customer service is very good, and the replies are prompt and polite. But, what good does it do when the product delivery is substandard.

Balsak85

Is anybody using this with tvheadend ? Would like to find out how to setup the epg

googllgoog

Registered. But no confirmation email received

bootroom

How to add helix on Kodi? only been using with vlc right now but i need VOD.

o0adam0o

Does the USA plan have NFL Redzone

sewershagger

Mine has stopped working. No channels are loading today despite channel list loading fine. I re-entered all the details into Perfect Player but no channel is loading at all. Also tried via the web player through the Helix Hosting website and that isn't loading either despite my subscription showing as currently active.

Anyone else having these issues?

Edit: Just tried creating a ticket on their website but the page just times out " helixhosting.ninja took too long to respond".

I was expecting the worst when I ordered one of these a month ago. I've been pleasantly surprised though. I'm saving so much money and the service has been great.

abelchirp

i just signed up, but got a problem with the payment :/ hope it's resolved soon to check the service

jir591

They dropped the entire Premium local network channels section. That sucks!

angrybluex

Just perchased a month service, very nice streams so far.thanks for the great work.

without a doubt one of the worst companies ever. deaf and dumb. never seen anything like it. must be a total scam. i've been trying to sign up. it tells me my email address is invalid. sent it 3 times. i mean how dumb is that. smells of a scam.
