Helix US Service - IPTV nomad finds a home.

My services recently shut down. You probably know who they were since it's be widely posted. I went from A to F then to F and looking for a home. I had a run of bad luck. I been taking trials from vendors here in the last couple of weeks in preparing from the final F shutting down. Just a mess of random resellers hawking their shitty product.. None of the good ones left is what it seems

Was going to buy Smooth Streams since the last F had it and I really enjoyed it.. BUT>>>>>> WTF.. Smooth Streams has like 60 non sports channels.. No going to cut it for me and it was way to expensive. $$$$$$$

Decided to do two cheap as dirt iptv service as recommended by most here. Saw Helix posts all over the place. Never bother to take a trial since people were so negative with Bob. Figure it was not worth my time.

Decided to take a trial a week ago and I am surprising impressed. I am in the in Texas to give you an idea of where I am located. What is impressive about them is.. they got all the NBC Sports (formerly Comcast), Fox Sports.. and regional ABC, NBC, CBS. It is nice to have regional local channels on IPTV

Streams are of good quality and for the most part buffer free.

Helix does not have any support other than tickets.. they do not have chat, forums or facebook. I gotten tickets reponded to with in a couple of hours... but it is okay> I do the trouble shooting myself. They did get a new twitter accounts.. So I do follow them there.

Bottom line: Its not Comcast or DirecTV but I ain't paying much for them. I would recommend Helix over the other two.. Well worth the time.

I have been very happy with Helix as well. I will be keeping them as one of my cheap providers.

Same here, besides a few minor hiccups, it's been smooth sailing for the past month. And Bob replied promptly to a ticket I had.

Channels have been good for me. I will probably keep them. Bob is really a nice guy. Many IPTV providers are really jerks and assholes and out to screw people.. Bob honestly is one of the good ones.. That alone will keep me a customer. Don't believe me.. check his post history.

I been with Flawless and Fab and those are run by absolutely jerks. I been swore at and ridiculed for just reporting downtimes and channels.. I am glad they are gone.

It's been great for me. Use it on a firestick and on a Mag box.

The only issue is on my Mag box, the guide is very slow for response time. I wonder if it has to do with the channel icons being too large file size or something?

I've been with Helix for a couple of months. I had a billing issue and Bob was more than fair in dealing with the issue. He earned my trust and loyalty.

I'll add my congrats to Bob and the Helix Guys, the service is probably the best I've used, sure there are problems from time to time (for example the Catchup has completely disappeared, but I've raised a ticket and I know it will get sorted), but the key thing is the response you get, FAB was run by an absolute dick, but Bob seems to have his shit together :)

Have to say, on the whole Ive been pretty happy with Helix. The Nfl game im watching was buffering a lot on the hd channel, but switched to the sd one and has been 100% spot on.

I've been with helix since they had a rough time dealing with weekend sport, I keep giving helix a chance since their support is awesome, they've been upgrading the APK, Kodi, playlist, etc. One thing for sure they are doing continues improvement.

My current flawless sub: Smoothstreams (undroppable sport) and Helix (regular channel and VOD), best of both worlds

I might give them a spin.

All I want it for is sport. Need UK sports channels, plus BeIN sports, and US ones that show UK soccer are handy too.

What package do I need? They have several, but can't see any channel lists.

Been looking to get a 2nd sub just seen the recent problems with TNT. What’s Helix like for football as that’s all I’ll be using for really, do I need a VPN?

Allrounder1234

Why do you find Smoothstreams so expensive? 3 IPs per account which I share so £30 for the year doesn't seem expensive to me?

If you want more channels fair enough but don't get the expensive argument.

akaramon

Had high hopes for helix but it came up short. Every stream I’ve tried plays fine for about 30 seconds then buffers

meowman8000

It was down for me almost the entire 24 hour trial I had, definitely didnt make me want to buy a monthly.

This is the first time I'm hearing of IPTV / Helix. I'm all about saving money though!

PhilboPearson

Been trialling Helix this weekend as my former service shut down. Been impressed, similar channels to the old service. Very little buffering on the android app for the NFL.

PhilboPearson

Should clarify I’m watching Redzone on S*y Sport Mix and has been pretty flawless.

PhilboPearson

Thought it started @ 6pm UK time inline with kickoff time.

Anyhow paid for a month and time will tell. Had to scramble to fine something after Fab.

Does helix have catch up and what is the experience like on an Apple TV??

NickInTheMud

Does helix only charge in British pounds? Or can you change currency to usd or cad?

shreyasfifa4

Helix buffers a lot on my MiBox Kodi setup. Unwatchable

Fog80

Thanks for the review. I’ve been looking for an alternative for sportsmania since they have been having so many issues and the communication has been non existent.

ernesta

Helix has been working pretty well for me. Especially with the double Helix package I got for only $8.

PrepStud

Helix loads in great for me. No hiccups.

snusfiend

You can't beat the price, especially since it seems to do exactly what they advertise.

pattuspl

I can't find much info. I'm looking for good provider with US, PL channels. Rapid is going downhill

BGZ314

What is Nomad? Sorry I'm new to this stuff, Helix looks promising though!

I have been with Helix for a few weeks now and I am very happy with the service. When I am at work I have helix streaming on GSE Smart player for Mac, and have a major US News network playing as background noise all the time. My shifts can range from 8 to 20 hours long, and I don't experience any buffering or loss of stream at all. If it does its rare. Hopefully the service never goes south with all of you guys signing up. I sure would like to get an eternal sub as a backup but they are never available. I have also Vaders and Beast subs too, but never use them that much and I will just let them expire since they don't carry one of the news channels that Helix has that I enjoy.

Chestertonb

I'm done with Helix. Always some excuse as to why their service is shit. Android app always having issues. Any channel that likely to be busy sucks. Channels that are missing. I'm out.
