Vader streams review from a former settv subscriber.

by Glitter_Pubes

Was a setTV subscriber until a few weeks ago when they shut down. I was happy with set TV although picture quality wasn't the greatest it served it's purpose well. setTV was reliable, the app worked flawlessly and happily paid $20 a month for it.

I was sad when set TV shut down, I started searching for an alternative. Seeing a lot of people talking about Vader on reddit I chose to give this a try first and give it a go.

#Vader Streams

I was bored at home, looking to watch a baseball game so I signed up for Vader streams. Was sad to find out after sign up that it took up to 24 hours (usually takes much less time than that according to confirmation page) to activate service. Bummer. Maybe it'll be only a short time. Well, it took about 20 hours to finally get activation email.

So the next day I finally was able to log in to Vader streams. I'm using fire stick apk app.

First thing I noticed was that things were kinda slow to load. Maybe I was spoiled by settv but the little spiny seemed to take a bit.

#picture quality

Most of the channels I'll say are much higher quality than set TV was, so far so good. They look like high def resolution where set TV I would complain often about picture quality.

#few days in

So after a few days of use here's some bad/annoying stuff I'll make remarks on. Watching some channels I'll get some error messages that pop up on the screen saying server unavailable, try again later or something to that extent (can't remember exact terminology) but the TV show remains on in the background. (ok, if it's unavailable how come the live TV show is still on?) so I click the ok button and it kicks me back to the main menu. I click live TV button and the circle just spins and spins and spins. I have to restart the firestick to get back into live TV again.

This has happens every few hours and is super annoying.

#android phone apk

Could never get this to work on Android. The spinny loading thing never went away. Tried on wifi and on 4g, couldn't get in using either.

Tried a few different times with the last time just failing to recognize my username and password (failed to login).

#conclusion

For $15 a month, I'm not sure if this is what I should be expecting from an iptv service or if this is a bad service. I'm anxious to hear others feedback, if I'm just being picky or if this is the norm with these types of services. As is stands now I'll most likely cancel this service and try a different one next month to see if that's any better. I do like the picture quality but the server errors and inability to use on mobile are major negatives for me.

Thanks for reading.

Vader apk is only made for android tv 6.0 and higher so it won't work on phone.

Apk updates are pushed put every few days and is still in beta. Get perfect player or a settop box like z7+/xpl 3000 if you want to watch without any issues.

Activation time varies by reseller.

I use Vader Streams and have no problems. I’m in Ny though

I am surprise with your issues, I have been using Vaders for two weeks, my activation process was 20 minutes. Never got those messages that you mention.

I have a Nvidia Shield and I am running the APK and Kodi to watch the streams. My only complain is that I am not able to find any IPTVService like this one since I am looking for a backup.

Probably you can try with another reseller.

Cheers!

With all due respect to the resellers here, the APK is no less of a true beta at this point then entire service itself atm. I mean those of you that don't miss a chance to pump it up otherwise really can't have it both ways here. Heck, the devs themselves are already on record as wanting to get away from Kodi, and have been pushing that APK as the primary viewing method for what I'm guessing makes up the large majority of their current total customer base.

As far as the OP goes:

- You can't fault Vader themselves for how long your reseller takes to activate your account.

- For your phone try logging in to vaders.tv on the google web browser. I've actually been pretty happy overall with the phone experience doing that.

- One of the bigger wrong assumptions people tend to make with IPTV is that all android video players are basically equal. Which outside that otherwise surface desire people have to just go with whatever is most visually appeasing to them couldn't be further from the truth. Like pretty much everything else about Vader, that APK comes with a trade off. Look and feature wise it's better then almost anything else you are going to find out there...but the base player it's built on isn't particularly stable in comparison to some others as far as handling video playback capability goes (which in my last review I initially thought might have changed, but that appears to have just been a small sample size data fluke after an additional 100+ hours of comparative testing with all surrounding factors being equal)

Or simplifying it down, a lot of those "bumps in the road" where the APK or say something like say Perfect Player will struggle (drops/buffering/freezes/errors), a better base player like SPMC or Progtv can actually play through it a lot easier so to speak, or at least while creating a more minimal amount of surrounding annoyance. So my advice would be to try having a simultaneous install of one of those latter for the rest of your sub, and see if you notice the difference yourself. I myself always tends to go to the APK first just out of convenience sake, then switch over to SPMC whenever I'm seeing issues on the APK. I'd say maybe half the time that makes the acceptable difference.

I have 2 Buzz 3000 boxes in 2 different houses (using the portal on the buzz) and we have the same issues you're describing with channels suddenly not working and having to reboot. So it's not your device. Frustrating.

King-box IPTV cost $20.00us /month and has more catchup channels than Vader’s. It also has 4K movies vod. I use it on IPTV Extreme app. I will not be renewing my Vader’s sub when it expires. I use Eternal Tv as my backup.

Biggest issue is your using a firestick the apk can be laggy naturally and when combined with that go figure, try setting the m3u with epg on perfect player or prog tv there's another app.I highly recommend which is zaltv which hosts m3u online but it does costs and I find it great for the fire tv plus its in the amazon app store
