Helix (UK Channels Package) Review from UK subscriber

Helix (UK ONLY Channels) Review

Backgroud: I tested almost all IPTV providers here and have had monthly subscription with all the major ones here.

I saw Helix show up here last couple weeks. Honestly they seems like another other IPTV provider, so I really did not pay attention to them. Same old packages and really did not catch my attention.

Recently they offered a neat package £4 for UK only channels. Being from the UK, this really had me wondering.. being from the UK, I really only watched UK channels.....

When I had packages with all channels.. Every once in a while I took a gander at US or canada channels but I end up switching back to UK channels.. maybe its the commercials or the way they talk. I always end up going back to UK channels. BBC,Channel4, Sky and BT.. I stick with these channels. these are my staple of channels. I really do not need hundred of channels.

So I gave these guys a try. So far I am IMPRESSED. It half or a third of the price (£4) of the highly touted providers here.

It is a nice, tight and concise list of my favorite channels.. Everything I need I get..

This means, playlists are quick to load.. which also means I can find my favorite channels muck quicker.

As for VOD and 24/7, it's really an ARMS race here, many provider say they got the best or the most... this UK package does not include VOD or 24/7.. so it is a very simple small package of channels that is really easiy to navigate.

I use TVIRL with Live Channels on Nvidia Sheild. I use to modify my channel list to remove all unneed channels. I do not have to do it with this.

I opened a ticket twice and they answered quickly. Streams seem to be high quality consistent with the highly regarded providers here.

This UK only package from HELIX is a winner especially for blokes for me. I imagine it would be good for the elderly and others who is use to a smaller and targeted channels list.

I would recommend anyone overwhelmed with channels list, give these guy a try. I will probably stick with these guys for a bit. Can't really beat the price IMHO. Cheers!

EDIT: Forgot the link.

Can confirm it's a decent provider with a lot of channels. I like that it has Australian channels in HD. Not much buffering.

Signed up for a free trial with Helix and it only took me about 20 minutes to decide I wanted to subscribe for it. Great selection of channels and works well with Perfect Player because of their channel groupings. (I now have Helix, Epicstream and Unloaded (Vader) TV {It’s nice to have a backup plan to back up the backup plan} running on perfect player. For $42/month, this setup sure beats the $150 I was paying per month for my now-cancelled horrible ATT UVerse cable package). 😊👍

Good backup channel.

ok so decided to try it out. catchup is indeed on entertainment channels such as BBC, ITV etc. appears to stretch back 5 days so happy with that. can't go wrong with that price at all.

Is it good for sports?

Most people will be interested more in the reliability and picture quality of the streams rather than having a smaller channel list though. Most providers do use the same sources (usually globe for most channels) but even so the quality and reliability varies wildly.

I found Epic had significantly better FHD picture quality (on the UK streams at least) than others like ace, fab, flawless and vaders, even though they all use the same globe streams! This was also evident when monitoring the bandwidth it uses vs the others, it does use more bandwidth which suggests it really is a better quality picture and not just me going mad. Epic reliability hasn't been the best though with regular freezing and regular out of sync audio.

Is there a list of channels somewhere?

Tried the free trial, impressive. Downloaded their addon and installed it in Kodi

Most channels I watched were up, very very occasional buffering, and quite a bit of stuff in HD. Only about half of the adult channels were working, and quality on those was horrendous.

Catchup did not work for me at all, I see it in the list, and see a few channel options when I go into the menu, but selecting an actual show to catchup does nothing, nada

Quite a bit of movie VOD in 720/1080 content, but was not able to find any TV VOD at all, unless I missed it?

My normal provider is Eternal but I thought I would give these guys a go for a back-up. I got a free trial and used the m3u8 in VLC. Nearly every stream froze so I don't understand how people are bulling it up. Seems pretty rubbish to me.

mixterz1985

do you know if it has catchup ?

Got a 24hr free pass and from what I've seen so far, I'm VERY impressed. I will get a month by month sub. I'll be able to determine then if I'll go long term after a couple of months.

Just signed up for a trial. Trying to add the Playlist to MyIPTVPlayer on my Xbox. Playlist loads fine but no channels will play. Am I missing something?
