Helix. Good for the price. Can be a nice backup if not primary provider.

General rule of thumb is to have multiple providers.. from what I am reading here. In case one fails, then you got a backup. However, sadly the top providers all share the same sources.. at least from my tests. So if main source goes off line they all go offline. Helix seems to be using different stream sources so it is a nice difference from everyone using Globe.

Here is the low down. They got three packages

Single Helx £ 6 US/UK/CA

Double Helix £ 7 All channels with out XXX

Triple Helix £ 8 All including XXX .. hence their play on the Triple Helix name.. hahha.. I got it.

NOTE: Irish channels come in single. If you need Austrialian channels, you need double.

If you get a year the prices go down to about ~£ 4 monthly. This is not recommend to go yearly but at the same time it is £ 50 yearly which is a meals price so.. not real a risk.

Channels- You got every channel out there. I really ony care about UK channels and they all work quite well. So I am not going to talk to much about the others. UK broken into four sectionsb, UK documentaries, movies, entertainment, kids music. They all work well during my testing it seems to work quite well. I peeked into US and they seem to have a complete set as well. They have a lot of 24/7 channels.. but broken down by season for TV sets. so it is kind nice to see that. There is a couple of channels that were off but you see that with ever provider.

Quality: Mostly HD. Important UK channels have three versions. Some are mislabeled as HD but mostly SD.

Buffering: Suprisingly no much at all. Every once in a while but most of time it works well. Helix is seems to be a winner here.

EPG - Channels number requirement but EPG is a close second. It is pretty complete with all the EPG icons. All UK seems to have it.

International channel. Their channel list a lot countries but I am particular concerned about it. So you will have to check this out on your own.

Devices; the usuall characters, MAG, STB, Perfect Player, Kodi, Andriod.

Payments: Paypal and Bitcoin.

Conclusion. Well worth it for a backup. When globe goes down.. this is a great backup. I started off with a free trial last weekend and now bought a year. It has been great for week... interestingly for the few channels I watched... Helix out performed my main at 1/2 the main providers cost.

any how here is the link. I would recommend at least taking out a trial... It appears they have weekend trials as well.

Awesome review man! Thank you and much appreciative

They offer a monthly plan at £6. I like how you follow that quick "not recommended" disclaimer with the "not a real risk" regardless downplay...which I found kinda funny coming from somebody apparently sweating that £2 saving on the first month enough where they passed up the opportunity to not make one of the most common noobie mistakes out there. Just saying ;)

Good and well written review though. Appreciate the extra effort at detail.

I trialed with Helix as well and thought it was really solid. I have 7 other subs right now so not in the market for an eighth, but when something expires I might give them a full month’s go.

I'm in the middle of the trial period of Helix. There is a deal breaker that I discovered almost immediately. It won't work with a VPN, at least not for me with the VPN that we use. Another deal breaker is that they seem to have the same source for USA channels as the other 2 providers that we are using right now. I'm looking for a different source as a backup. Also the EPG looked to be pretty sketchy overall and not even up to the same level as our other providers.

Helix is pretty new I believe so I may check them out again in a few months but having a different source for the USA channels plus not working through a VPN is a killer for me and my family.

Only have about 2 hours this evening and between 8-10pm tomorrow evening to trial. Any chance of getting a trial within the next 30 minutes?

I subscribed for one month. They submit an auto payment monthly in paypal so be aware of that. The service from first view was pretty bad in my opinion. Much of the VOD doesn't work (server unavailable). Lot's of buffering on the popular channels. Even Vader was better if that's possible.

Almost coming on my third week on Helix. I dont want to jinx it but they are pretty solid, and the price is great. Occasionally you get a channel thats down but not much.

The support team replies you quickly. I was having trouble with connection on my first week, they changed the server to the one closest to me.

really impressed with the trial i had but its a trial, i might take a month sub as a backup see how that goes. looks promising
