vaderstreams via IPRocket

Signed up to the pioneer service (== vaderstreams) for one month here: https://my.iprocket.net/ with the kodi (with web viewing) option.

Applied the "pioneerreddit" promo code just prior to checkout and got 10% off which made the total $11.95 for the month.

Ran the service in kodi on an nvidia shield 2017 model running android TV hard wired to a stable internet at ~70Mbps downstream

The next part will apply to vaderstreams regardless of reseller: I found the vaderstreams kodi addon to be a useless buggy p.o.s. There are more details here along with a possible workaround: https://www.reddit.com/r/VaderStreams/comments/75z2ve/service_stopped/dorqjjz/

Putting their kodi addon disaster to one side for a moment, I have found the vaderstreams backend to be reasonably solid and the streams are good quality. Now that I've found a kodi workaround that works for me, I'm in two minds whether to renew for another month or bin them off.

If you have a shield and want the best experience (minus VOD), download TV IRL. It integrates the m3u and xml files directly into the "Live Channels" app that is natively built into Android TV. Channel changing and the EPG is smoother than a cable box, even on my low spec Nexus player!!

For the most part (in my experience) most IPTV ran through KODI is flaky. There's a reason dedicated IPTV boxes still exist.

FWIW, I now prefer TV IRL on the nexus player over my Dreamlink T1 Plus.

The downsides are no VOD and no channel grouping. On the bright side, you can hide the channels you won't watch.

Vaders are decent. However like many providers they suffer with trying to do too much. This as a result leaves too many issues across the service and buggy interfaces.

People need to stop chasing ever buck possible by trying to cater to everyone and just concentrate on a core market.

I've found the extras to be randomly buggy as well, but's gotten better for me since I've mostly made the switch to using the new v1.8 Terrarium TV (with RD + Trak. Voice search too, even on Amazon devices...which doesn't work on my Shield since that terrible google assistant got added though) instead of Kodi/SPMC for my VOD needs, and simply put Vader on it's own install of SPMC 16.7.1 with only a light maintenance wizard (I use Firetvguru). Hardware acceleration turned off, and using the wizard to auto tweak the advanced settings.

I could care less about Vader's VOD, but every other option strips catch-up out, which to me is a deal breaker.

I have been happy with their streaming service but I take an unusual approach. I use TVHeadEnd as the backend for recording/rewinding and pausing live tv. This also allows me to setup the kodi guide exactly as I want since it is fed by the tvheaded client plugin. It does take a bit of work since each channel has to be added manually but I only really want a few dozen channels anyway. Also this setup does not include VOD but like you, I couldn't care less about that.

Getting Vaders via IpRocket seems cheaper than from their site. What’s the difference, can you explain guys.

Try as I might to find a kodi fix up guide for the vaderstreams kodi addon, I couldn't find one. If the vaderstreams kodi addon really is so bad and I think it is, in my opinion there should be a whole lot more people raising the alarm but the odd reality appears to be the opposite. Other vaderstreams reviews not far from here have people singing it's praises never mind having any issues with it. From my point of view there seems a lot of fake news and fake reviews around here.
