SET TV review Day two

by lantzmurray

So I decided to do a SET Tv trial as I’d love to cut the cable. It’s mainly for my family as I really don’t have much time to watch tv. So far it’s mainly been pros. I’m using a second gen fire stick and using it the furthest location away from my router. Setup was simple using ADBfire to install from a pc and I had my code right away.

For kids channels there are twenty USA channels of this twenty 18 appear to be working. The two down are pbs and sprout which would be for toddlers so that’s not really a con. I notice that the guide at the bottom shows the next show and not the current show which can be very confusing but a lot of what I see in the epg guide appears to actually be correct when you scroll to the current time. There are a lot of channels that say no program available when there’s something playing. Most of the UK channels say this.

For sports it appears to be flawless. A crap ton of ESPN and TSN. Didn’t see any sky sports but I wouldn’t miss it. Over 100 sports channels all of what appear to be working.

I noticed that the speed test showed 8mb which is a lot lower than the 100mb lol!!! But I’m not complaining yet because it’s working. As for buffering there was some with Nickelodeon UK and UFC. Every other channel has been good so far. This actually out performed Kodi which was surprising.

I plan to test with a 3gb ram android box near the router to see if the experience is the same or better.

For 20$ a month I would expect to at least have support for all devices especially kodi.

So after more testing. I noticed at around 9pm the nick channels go offline and show ads. All three or four nickelodeon channels had the same sweeper ad. Nick Jr still worked fine. All sports still worked fine. The guide at the bottom still showed the next show instead of the current show.

Testing with the android box was a failure. The box was 3gb ram with 16gb internal using android 6. The fire stick is supposed to be slower but ran circles around it. Changing the channel on the android took about ten seconds compared to the instant change of the fire stick.

Overall the experience with SET was good. Everyone seemed to enjoy it.

I was not happy with this service. A lot of channels I wanted were either offline entirely or when I wanted to watch. Customer service was no help at all. Would not recommend.

I could never get the damn thing to actually work. Downloaded the app, got my email with my codes. Input the codes and it kept kicking me back to the "imput code" prompt.

I get "support" and they tell me to enter the code. DUH, I did that and it's not working. If I am going to PAY for a service, it shouldn't need tech support to get it going.

I live in the USA and I just signed up for a month of this service yesterday after my 3 day free trial and a lot of the channels have been going down that we watch like Food network, cooking channel, tbs, hallmark movie channel was just showing the regular hallmark channel but had no sound but it seems to be working now. I couldnt get this to work on my PC using Bluestacks, it would say No Video Input when i tried to watch anything on Bluestacks with it so I switched to their PC APP, but i dont like the fact that the full screen in the app makes it true full screen on my monitor, i just want it to fill up the app screen and not my monitor.

I will be trying a different service around the end of my month sub. I hear Vaders TV is one of the better ones. I want to try out ACE just because their channel lineup is awesome, but I've been hearing not so good things about their service on these forums lately.

Add me to the "disenchanted"! For starters, there appears to be a total, registration and payment disconnect between TWO separate Set TV registration sites, with one site having no record of the other site's customers, while providing the same service stream.

Picture quality was very good, and buffering was minimal... most of the time. For the somewhat troubled setup process, an email rep at iptvgods@gmail.com , was responsive, and most helpful.

For the past 4 days, however, their customized, "Generic" Flow Player, yields only a ready "Disabled" signature. Emails to both the iptvgods rep, and Set TV, itself, have gone completely ignored. They may be undergoing some system upgrade changes, but that's giving them the benefit of the doubt. What is certain, in any case, is that customer service is wholly inadequate, and seemingly indifferent, once your monthly payment has been made. I'd give them a zero, but for picture quality... when I last received service, days ago.

Set Tv is a scam. They ave crappy service, half their channels dont work, they dont pay their affiliates, no customer service and the people running it are scam artists with raps sheets a mile long.
