After several days of offer emails stating that there was an overwhelming response for trials, yesterday I received my 3 day trial offer for Set TV. I run an Android TV player and immediately downloaded and setup the app, which was super easy and worked right away. I tested it during the afternoon on several entertainment and premium channels, as well as Canadian sports channels and all worked well with the exception of 1 sports channel which was green in colour.
The evening I fired it back up and it was a much different experience. The EPG (which was very accurate for daytime use) was mostly incorrect for non-major networks. Many channels that I selected had no video and did not play. The ones that did have video looked fine and had zero buffer.
Quick Summary: Pros
- Very nice app layout
- No buffering experienced
- Local Sports channels worked well (International ones were iffy)
- Local and most major networks worked well DURING the day
Cons
- EPG was inaccurate for non-major channels
- During peak time (7-10pm), No video output was presented for a surprising number of channels
- Layout of VOD service is odd. Not grouped into folders, just episodes in no order listed
I hope tonight will be better but for $20/month I expected much more reliability than this and am already looking for something else. I am looking to try either ACE or Fabiptv next.
i was on the 3 day trial - aweful experience. 90% of the channels took extended (+45secs) times to load. some channels juat didnt load at all. i was running the windows client. fast cable connection as well. i just could not see me paying even $10 for this. sad, i had my hopes up.
