A Noobie Review of SET TV

by kev_kev12

SET TV is my second experience using IPTV. My first was using the free addons and links in the app kodi. Although it was free there was constant buffering and lagging. Once I found Set I figured there was no harm in paying $20 for a month to try it out. I never looked back it is awesome. HD and SD channels. A full guide. Almost no buffering and lagging. Although with any streaming service there will always be some buffering and channels that may not work from time to time.  There is something for everyone in the 250+ channels. Many kids channels such as ytv, family and ABC spark. Sports packages like NFL, NHL and NBA. A cottage and fishing channel if you’re in to that sort of thing. FREE PPV channels. Adult channels that are password protected if you have kids. International channels and more. More channels are added frequently enough. They’ve added almost 100 channels since I first started using this service. The video on demand section is constantly growing everyday. New and old tv series. New episodes aired on tv will typically be added the day after. New and old movies. Wonder Woman and Alien:Convenant SD versions have just recently been added. Something Set TV doesn’t mention is that the minimum download speed you should have is 4mb. I recommend you plug in with an Ethernet cord. With Wi-Fi your speed drops and can create more buffering. Although you can use your internet browser to watch, I recommend downloading the apps they have on their website. They are more stable, I find, as the website feature is still new.  There are many different packages ranging from $20 for one month to $309 for the Canadian and international 12 month plus HD wireless box receiver. There is also a 3 day free trial period where you can test things out. There is no credit card required during this period.

A couple of last things. I have read many comments about SET TV customer service. They have always replied to my emails in a timely fashion. Just like any customer service there will be good and bad experiences you'll have to see for yourself don't judge it by others comments including mine. I have also read that you can't access the epg while watching a show this is false you can. You don't have to go through the home screen to get to the epg.

Overall I am very pleased with Set TV and their product I use it every day. I recommend everyone try it out if they are looking to cut the cord.

I'm using a Mi Box for SET TV and I can't figure out how to make the epg appear while watching something. The channel guide will appear, but nothing with programming. The only way I've found is going through the home screen. Other than that, it's been pretty decent. I've been running this and gears concurrently for a couple of weeks and I can't decide which one to go with.

I got to say, their apps looks awesome, looking very professional. They got it right from the looks department, most iptv don't look as polished from branding side. Probably that's why they charge more.

Hopefully other iptv provider can take note. I know we're mostly in it for the live TV stuff, but the experience of having nice clean interface is really a big factor nowadays.

I wanted to try set tv, asked for a trial and they sent me a email saying how busy they were and it could take awhile for them to get me a trial.. so I purchased my services from Ace and was setup within minutes.

People asking for trials are potential customers, you really should work on streamlining this or you will continue to lose customers to others

I want to add my 2 cents, as this review above is obviously from a reseller, so it's quite biased.

I've used set for 5 months now, and it's progressively gotten worse and worse, the service is spotty at best, with large groups of channels dropping out for days at a time.

Their customer service is absolutely terrible, they will respond, sometimes, but ultimately they don't actually give a crap about your questions or concerns. They used to have a facebook forum, but have since closed it because they don't want to deal with their unhappy customers, so the resellers had to set up a support group of their own which they police with an iron fist. If you complain about something not working they brush you off as a whiner and that we should all expect the service to be imperfect because "it's iptv guy". Now i don't expect it to be be perfect. But when the service goes down for days, or a channel goes off for days, they should be happy to hear this so they can fix it. I'm not complaining to them as i understand it's not perfect, and will never be, i'm just trying to help them, and me, get the service back up. As they often would not be aware otherwise. Sadly their fav. response is to tell you to watch something else lol. Using Set is frustrating as far as reliability goes because it can be really good and then really bad... .

Now that being said, Set has one of the best US/CA channel line ups around. (when/if they work) and their EPG is also excellent. but could use some tweaking. Their APK is also excellent and very easy to use. They also have a much higher quality stream than any i've experienced and their codecs are very fine, almost as good as regular cable/sat. service. no distortion, very, very clear and crisp (when working). Channels switch quickly as well. overall it looks and acts as close to regular cable than i've seen in the 6-7 other services i've tried over the last year.

It can and could be the king of services imo if they would just give a crap about their service and their customers. Proactive, professional and polite are not words in their vocabulary, they are purely reactive, and only react when everything starts to blow up on them. They also do not communicate with their customer base when things blow up on them, they wait to get hammered by tickets and then they email everyone asking them not to contact them lol. But offer no resolution or timeframe that would easily appease the mob. Their problems are so elementary and so simple to fix yet they fight it like you're forcing a 5 year old to do something they don't want to do... So they make their lives much harder than it needs to be. And this is exactly what takes businesses down, which makes me extremely apprehensive to buy more than a month at a time.

Sadly with all their warts, i'm still with them for now, i'm going through a giant list of providers and finding out which one is truly the best. My needs are pretty simple, i need a good and reliable high quality service, with an accurate EPG. They also let you connect 3 devices The do indeed have great features, they just need to stand behind and take more pride in the service they offer.

So far, SET is the only one that can keep my wife and kids happy as it looks and acts like real cable. (that is, when the channels work). But unless the service improves, i will keep looking. Eventually i will post ALL of my many unbiased unsponsored reviews just incase anyone is curious.

So for now i use them and acetv as a back up.
