Ace-TV review

by s1nnah

Although I've cardshared for years and been into KODI since it was on the original XBOX I've never really dabbled in IPTV except via sketchy free addons.

Did a month sub to Ultimatemania which was OK. However considering the hype amongst KODI heads I was very dissapointed I couldnt easily get it working with the PVR part of KODI (PVR IPTV Simple Client). I did succeed eventually but it was a proper hack. Channel selection was pretty poor, offering little HD content outside of the sports and movies. Most of the UK HD channels were GlobeIPTV. I tried to merge the UM channels with Freesat HD feeds from TVHeadend but it was simply too much of a faff and I couldnt get the two epg sources synced up properly in KODI's PVR. This alone drove my wife to distraction. Overall that service was not for me.

Dunno where i found Ace-TV but I'm glad I did, its like chalk n cheese. Signed up for a trial. Copy and pasted the .m3u & epg links into KODI. BINGO. Everything up and running in minutes. First thing is the EPG. I have wrestled with program guides, channel orders and groups for years. My Mrs is never quite happy. Not anymore.... Channels are laid out well with everything grouped up nicely. Pretty much all UK channels offer HD and SD feeds which is really nice after only having SD for so long on the card share. EPG seems accurate for UK channels although if you're not from the US or UK you might find it lacking with many euro stations not having guide data. Something to look out for maybe? Video On Demand is supplied through both the .m3u and a KODI addon. My guess is that its not the biggest on demand section but its great for recent movies at decent quality. A quick call to support and I learned the TV channels don't change in the .m3u only the VOD is updated regularly. So I took the executive decision to run the .m3u locally. Clear out all the VOD related stuff and add my Freesat feeds from TVHeadend. BINGO a lovely EPG with real HD on the channels my wife watches the most. Ive found Ace to be very reliable. Watched the whole F1 weekend last week and it didnt skip a beat I've also have left channels on all night to come down and find them still running in the morning. Support is spot on. Every ticket has been responded to promptly and resolved without issue. The guys seem to genuinely keen to provide a good service.

As you can see, i've not tried many services but you could do a lot worse than pony up a tenner to give it a crack.

Thanks for the review.

I liked Ace when I tried it, but the EPG and very lengthy amount of time it took to load up every time i entered Kodi put me off on it.

If they've made strides in that area since then I'd definitely be open to giving them a second look though.

I have a similar nice experience from trying them out in a month. I dont know how you would be hosting the .m3u locally I tried but could'nt? Anyway, I contacted support once to report at channel not working properly and they replied right away they would "look into it". A few days later that channel had vanished. Hope this added a bit to this review.

Least amount of buffering from all the IPTVs I have tried thus far. Only thing not reliable (like all providers) is big PPV events. But then again, finding a iptv provider that doesn't buffer on PPV events is unicorn status I think.

Awesome service

as you said , they are focusing only on UK & US channels, other countries are not that much. Necro IPTV is better in this area and has more channels than you expect , try them if u want
